Veteran Ghanaian tactician Joseph Emmanuel (JE) Sarpong has urged Accra Hearts of Oak’s new boss, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, to approach the job with boldness and an uncompromising focus.
Sarpong, who has handled some of Ghana’s top clubs, warned that the Hearts hot seat demands more than just tactical expertise.
According to him, Dramani must remain independent in his decisions and resist any outside interference.
“He should stay focused. Hearts of Oak — if you are a coach and don’t have the courage, you can’t coach Hearts of Oak, you can’t coach Kotoko, you can’t coach Olympics, you can’t coach Okwahu United,” Sarpong told Happy FM.
“So if you are a coach you have to get that boldness. Of course, suggestions will come left and right. Sometimes the good ones you take them, but if someone comes to you and says ‘play this player’ and you do it, no, then you are a bad coach.
“What you are doing, do it. If it doesn’t work then you call it quits. When I was coaching, if I was doing something and you interfered, I would leave your team for you,” he added.
