The 27-year-old Ghanaian stopper has rejected a new contract extension offer from the Swedish second division side as his current deal is due to expire later this term

Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Baffo has turned down a new contract deal from Superrettan League campaigners Halmstads BK.

The former Helsingborg stopper joined the Orjans Vall Stadium outfit on a short-term deal this term. However, his impressive performances have so far left them with no other option than to try and tie him down to another fresh term as they seek qualification to the Swedish top-flight this season.

However, Baffo says he is in no rush to sign on the dotted lines for the Halmstad-based club as he continues to drag his feet over the renewal terms with them in the ongoing transfer window.

"It's true that I said no. I am in no hurry to decide, but I can say that I thrive very well in Halmstad. We will see what happens," the former guardsman whose contract expires on December 31, 2020 told Sports Expressen.

Baffo has so far featured in 16 league games for Halmstads BK in the ongoing league season.

The Accra-born centre-back is still eligible to play for Ghana at the senior national team level, the Black Stars despite featuring for the Swedish youth sides.
