KAA Gent to pay tribute to long-serving captain fantastic Nana Asare on October 26 Featured

Having ended his seven-year romance with the Belgian giants this term,the 34-year-old nimle-footed left-back is now set to be honoured by his former employers at the Ghelamco Arena later this month

KAA Gent have served notice that they would pay tribute to Ghana international Nana Asare on October 26  at the Ghelamco Arena after mutually parting ways with him this season. 

After severing ties with the 'Buffalos', the former Feyenoord Rotterdam defender has received supports from his team-mates for a beffitting farewell to his seven-year dedication of services in the top-flight with the Pro League campaigners.

And now, the former Belgian First Division Champions have paid heed to the calls thereby accepting to pay homage to the experienced lateral stopper when they take on KRC Genk later this month.

"The celebration of Nana Asare, which could not take place (and was foreseen at the home game against Beerschot), will now take place on Monday, October 26 during the home game against KRC Genk", a statement from the 'Buffalos' read via

Since bursting onto the scene in Belgium, the former FC Utrecht defender had had stints with Royal Antwerp and KV Mechelen in the Belgian top-flight.

Having joined KAA Gent in 2013, Asare has featured in  272 league games, scoring 4 and providing 16 assists.

The Kumasi-born talented left-back has been capped five times by Ghana.
