The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been lauded by his trainer for his phenomenal output in Sunday's Eredivisie game against Sparta Rotterdam.

Ajax Amsterdam manager Erik ten Hag is highly optimistic about Kudus Mohammed regaining his form on his return from the career threaten injury.

Mohammed scored to propel Ajax Amsterdam to an emphatic 4-2 home victory over Sparta Rotterdam at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

He earned a starting berth after spending sixteen weeks in the treatment due to a knee injury he suffered in Ajax's UEFA Champions League game against Liverpool last year.

"His [Kudus Mohammed] goal was fantastic. In the beginning he had to look for his position a bit, but I think he played well,'' Erik ten Hag said after the game.

''He has been away for a long time. He can use this match to get one step further."

Mohammed has scored twice and provided three assists in his six appearances for Ajax in his debut season.
