Dutch-born Ghanaian sensation forward Brian Brobbey is heading towards RasenBallsport Leipzig in the German Bundesliga campaign, according to Ajax FC chief Mike Verweij.
The promising frontman, who is due to part ways with the Dutch Eredivisie giants come on June 30 this term, has been linked with several clubs across Europe - with Spanish giants Real Madrid, Italian powerhouse AC Milan and Bundesliga heavyweights duo RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund - all currently believed to be on his heels next summer.
However, the club's insider has given the clearest indication that the Die Roten Bullen still remains the favourite side to land the 19-year-old budding talent in the next transfer window.
Verweij feels his side must go the extra mile to retain the services of their prized asset as losing him would serve as a big blow to them given his talents.
''I think Ajax still has to make an attempt to keep him. I don't know what Brobbey thinks about it himself, that seems to be going in all directions. Sometimes he wants to stay and then he wants to leave again. He still leans towards Leipzig, but perhaps Ajax will make a very serious attempt to keep him. That would be the best for everyone," Verweij said to De Telegraaf in the podcast Kick-off
Brobbey's running contract with Ajax FC will expire in June 2021 and his market value has been pegged at 3 million euros as per transfermarket.
The Amsterdam-born promising star is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international stage having featured for the Netherlands national youth teams.
