German-Ghanaian footballer Michael Akoto has lamented he is startled to be getting enough game time at Dynamo Dresden.

Akoto, who joined the club three months ago has made seven league appearances in eight matches, six of them being in the starting line-up.

"Actually, it was surprising to me. I am happy that the technical team has placed their trust in me and that I often start in games," he said.

The 23-year-old versatile defender has been used in other defensive positions by Dresden manager Alexander Schmidt.

Akoto added, “Yes, I have already played this position in Mainz 05 II, but not at this high level yet. It is really fun so I would not say no if the coaches asked me. But as I stated, I have little experience with that.”

Akoto who was born in Accra but left the shores of Ghana at a tender age, now holds a German passport.

He joined the Bundesliga II side from the reserve team of Mainz 05.

His current contract at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion will expire in 2023.
