The budding talented center-back has officially been signed by the American third-tier club in the ongoing transfer window.

Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei has completed his switch to Richmond Kickers FC ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old has joined the Red and White lads on a free transfer.

"I'm very happy to sign a contract with Richmond Kickers FC. It's a great club and I hope to help them achieve their objectives," Ackwei told Kickgh.com

"Winning trophies and gaining promotion from the USL League One is one of our main targets for the new season"

He was without a club after terminating his contract with New York Red Bulls II by mutual consent in 2018.

The former Inter Allies guardsman notched an assist in seven appearances for New York Red Bulls in the 2018 USL Championship.

He becomes the third Ghanaian to join Richmond Kickers FC after Amass Amankona and Charles Boateng who joined them recently from WAFA SC.

Ackwei was one of the highly-rated center-backs in the Ghana Premier League three seasons ago.
