EXCLUSIVE: Fatawu Safiu leaves for Swedish side Helsingborgs IF

The Newly-promoted Swedish Allsvenskan side are in pole position of announcing the capture of the 24-year-old attacker, Kickgh.com can exclusively report.

Asante Kotoko forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu is on the verge of completing his switch to Swedish top-flight club Helsingborgs IF in the ongoing transfer window.

The 24-year-old left the shores of the West African country few days ago to complete his move to the Reds lads.

He emerged on the radar of the Olympia Stadion outfit following his exploits at the Ghana Premier League heavyweights since last year.

He played an instrumental to help Asante Kotoko to clinch the GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition tier-1 title where he scored ten (10) goals.

It is believed that clubs from France and Belgian giants Anderlecht expressed interest in signing the former Portland Timbers FC attacker.

Helsingborgs IF already have experienced Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abubakari and Mamudo Moro in their fold.

Safiu earned a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana but failed to make the final squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
