Barnsley eye former Ajax youngster Owusu-Sekyere

A number of Premier League and Championship clubs are weighing up a move for former Ajax youngster Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere on a free transfer with Barnsley leading the chase, Kickgh understands.

Attacker Owusu-Sekyere is available on a free transfer after leaving Portuguese side Leixoes earlier this summer which means he can sign even though the U.K. transfer window is closed.

He featured for Championship side Barnsley FC in a behind closed doors friendly and highly impressed the technical staff with his undoubted potential.

Owusu-Sekyere played in the same youth team as Matthijs de Ligt and Justin Kluivert having come through the Ajax academy.

The skilful forward was highly regarded at Ajax, but he failed to break into the first-team.

Owusu-Sekyere qualifies to play for the Netherlands and Ghana.
