Preparation for the African Women's Cup of Nation is in jeopardy as we are in the state of perturbation to know whether the Ministry or the Local Organizing Committee, LOC is the one keeping the tournament in limbo.
The long awaited African Women's Championship is scheduled to take place in November, however, there has been little or nothing at all done in terms of preparation towards the main event.
It was months ago when a directive was issued to football teams who used the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium as their venue for matches to vacate the post as a delegation from the Confederations of African Football, CAF in conjunction with the LOC were to inspect the facilities there.
The inspection came to pass but the intentions that was made during the inspection have not been implemented.
As it is now, there are numerous of work that needs to be done but it seems the Ministry of Sports and the LOC have stagnated the process which also has a tendency of jeopardizing the tournament.
Few activities that are supposed to be done and have not yet been done are;
Rehabilitation at the various training facilities and the main stadia which will host matches have not been done.
Media Publicity which includes advertising the tournament on bill boards, websites, the use of mascots and so on have not been done.
The construction work at the University of Ghana electricity connection has not been approved.
CAF bills are yet to be settled. (hotels, food and cars rented).
Payment not made for the mobilization of the Green Grace Technology. So nothing has been it done as it stands now.
The LOC money being released is still lying in the accounts of the Ministry which has slowed the preparation process.
Letters and memorandums have been written to the Ministry long ago on this matter but nothing is done so far.
The Minister gave his approval but the Chief Director has refused to release the money. Even the sponsorship money that the LOC had from companies is still with the Ministry.
The renovation of the power connection for the Achimota dressing rooms need a quantum of GHc 12,000.00  because the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo promised to pay for the renovation works.
The above preparation and activities that have been stipulated are yet to be done meanwhile the tournament starts in November.
This is the first time Ghana is hosting the AWCON and this is how things have been difficult in terms of preparation to the tournament.
Is it because it is Women's tournament?
