Fabulous ladies through to Sanford women's FA cup final

The first semi final of the maiden edition of the Sanford women's FA cup in Ghana was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium between Fabulous ladies and Ampem Darkoaa ladies.

Fabulous ladies won the game 4-3 on penalty shootouts after ending the full ninety minutes with a 2-2 score line having Alice Kusi and Princella Adobes scoring twice each for Fabulous Ladies and Ampem Darkoaa Ladies respectively.

 

A thoroughly exhaustive first half of the game sae end-to-end stuff with beautiful football displayed by both side which caught the attention of the numbered fans at the VIP stand with Ampem Darkoaa Ladies fans travelling from Techiman to witness the game in Kumasi.

 

Ampem Darkoaa Ladies took the lead from their prolific goal scorer and the goal queen of the women's league in Ghana, Princella Adobea, when she coolly tapped in a cheap ball after experienced Meimunatu Sulemana refused to communicate well with her backline which allowed the ball through her legs to find Adobea.

 

Fabulous had to come in after going down to find the equalizer quickly before half time as and when it was needed most but Ampem Darkoaa Ladies remain intrepid until Alice Kusi picked the pieces in her final third and utilized it well to get the all important parity to stretch the game to all play affair in the second half.

 

Ampem Darkoaa played with a more different dimension and purpose in the second period by pressing and taking the game to their opponents but Fabulous Ladies had different ideas to counter that which to perfection for them.

 

Alice Kusi, who was shifted to the number nine position from midfield in the second half had more of the ball and sat on the neck of the Ampem Darkoaa defenders who played with more resistance and energy.

 

It was the last quarter of the game where all what seemed to be the match decider for Fabulous Ladies came when Alice Kusi's direct strike behind the box stretched Meimunatu Sulemana in her box to put the porcupine ladies ahead for the first time in the game.

 

However, Princella Adobea's stupendous performance was in no doubt when she dummied Meimunatu Sulemana inside out after Most Value Player (MVP) in the game, Sonia Opoku, had reduced the Fabulous Ladies defenders with her soothing touches to set Adobea one-on-one with the experience goal keeper which she made no mistake to that chance to send the game into penalty shootouts.

 

Grace Asantewaa, Princella Adobea and Sonia Opoku scored in the shootouts for Ampem Darkoaa ladies but Akyea Asante and Justice Tweneboah missed out their kick.

 

Joyce Asante, Alice Kusi, Patience Biamah, Princilla Sahene scored for Fabulous ladies whiles Elizabeth Owusu missed hers to end the game 4-3 in their favour.

 

The final of the Sanford World Clinic Women's FA Cup will be played at the newly built Cape Coast Sports Stadium on the 4th September, 2016.
