Bechem United forward Prince Adu Kwabena says he was "surprised" after his invitation to the Ghana national team.

Adu Kwabena, 17, is elated after receiving his first call-up for the Black Stars double-header 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan in November.

He has proven that local players in the Ghana Premier League could also play their way into the Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor plans following his prolific exploits for Bechem United during the truncated 2019/20 season after scoring eight goals in his twelve games in the league.
The Ghana U-20 forward was called to replace German-born Ghanaian forward Jamie Leweling, 19, who also received his maiden invite to the the senior men's national team.
"I am surprised with my debut call-up to the senior national team. I am really elated and ready to prove to the world that local players deserve a chance at Black Stars," Prince Adu Kwabena told Kumasi-based Light FM.
The prolific young attacker added that he has mimicked former FC Barcelona and Athletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez's style of play.
"Luis Suarez is my role model in football. I've copied most of his ideas in my play. My aspiration is to play in one of the European leagues," he said.
He was named among the 60 best young talents in the world football which was compiled by UK newspaper The Guardian.
