Government congratulate Black Satellites for WAFU Cup triumph

The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry for Youth and Sports headed by Hon. Isaac Asiamah, have sent a touching congratulatory message to the Black Satellites following their impressive run to win the 2020 WAFU Zone B Championship in Benin.


The Black Stars feeder team came from a goal down to beat Young Stallions of Burkina Faso 2-1 in Porto-Novo yesterday to be crowned champions of the tournament.

The entire team landed at the Kotoka International Airport last night after that sweet victory with the trophy set to be presented to the Government in subsequent days to come.
The Black Satellites however, have also qualified for the Total CAF U20 Cup of Nations which will be staged early next year in Mauritania.
A statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports states;
 “The Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports wishes to congratulate the national U-20 male team, the Black Satellites for making the Nation proud at the just ended 2020 WAFU Zone B under 20 Cup of Nations tournament in Benin”
“The Satellites, have annex the trophy and crowned the ultimate winners of the tournament, deserves a lot of commendation from the Government and the people of Ghana for achieving such a feet”
“The Ministry expresses it gratitude to the coach and engagements of the team and all who worked in diverse ways to ensure this victory.
We wish the team well in their future endeavors."
