Black Stars Head Coach C.K Akonnor has expressed his ultimate target with the national team, indicating he aims at qualifying the country to the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.

The 46-year-old gaffer was named as the Head Coach of the national team early this year taking over from Akwesi Appiah whom he served as his assistant for some few months before his sack.

Akonnor's incredible short term exploits at Dreams FC, Ashgold and Kotoko sparked high volume speaking of his credentials hence landing him the big one to lead the senior national team.
Since taking over, the Ghana national have honoured four games; against Mali, Qatar, all in a friendly meetings before a double header against Sudan in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
In an interview with Kessben FM in Kumasi, the former Kotoko coach stated his main aim with the Ghana national team at the moment is to do all what he could to qualify Ghana to the 2022 World Cup.
Nonetheless, he want to build a formidable side for the nation who will perform better than our previous outputs at the World stage hoping to surpass the quarter final mark- which has been Africa's best since the inception of the competition in 1930.
"My aim and aspiration is to help Ghana qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which would be staged in Qatar."
“I want to qualify for the nation for the next FIFA World Cup competition but that is not all as I would like and want my team to do well and make the country proud and everyone happy", he concluded.
Ghana has been placed in Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers alongside South Africa, Mozambique and Ethiopia in a draw which was held in January this year.
