Abdul Fatawu Issahaku arrives in Ghana to join Black Stars after sealing dream European move Featured

The budding talented attacking midfielder has arrived in the country after sealing a move to Portuguese top-flight league Sporting Lisbon earlier this week.


Ghanaian youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has joined the Black Stars to continue preparations for this month's international friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast.

The 17-year-old who has been in Europe for the past week for greener pastures to aid his development as a young footballer landed in Ghana on Thursday evening.
Fatawu Issahaku joined his teammates at the Black Stars camping base in Cape Coast for the double-header friendlies.
He was in Portugal to seal a move to Sporting Lisbon after his earlier move to German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen fell through due to unfruitful negotiations between the club and the player's representatives.
His move to the Portuguese outfit is backed by English Premier League giants Liverpool FC for further development because of his ineligibility to secure a work permit in England.
Fatawu Issahaku courted interest from several clubs in Europe including Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax, Broussia Dortmund, Red Bull Salzburg among others after an explosive performance at the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations staged in Mauritania.
He previously featured for the Ghana U17 team before gaining promotion to the U20 side to make his bow during the U20 Africa Cup of Nations at age 16.
Fatawu Issahaku managed to score two goals and an assist in 6 matches during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tourney held in Mauritania.
He was named the best player after the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations tournament.
His blistering output in the local scene earned the teenager a maiden call-up to the senior national team of Ghana for this international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Morocco.
