Abalora made his Black Stars debut last year and has played four games thus far.

Ghana coach Charles Akonnor says he is not in a position to ‘kill’ Razak Abalora who has come in for a lot of criticism after his howler in the friendly defeat against Morocco.

Abalora’s second-half howler led to Ghana’s 1-0 defeat in Rabat on Tuesday night. It was his second glaring mistake in successive games for the Black Stars.

And there have been calls for Akonnor to axe Abalora who is deputizing in the absence of injured Richard Ofori.

But the coach wants to help the 24-year-old overcome his recent poor performances.

“He has made a mistake, he knows himself but we are not in the position to kill him. We need each and everyone to be at a good level. Yes, we have to move on, we have to encourage him.

He is a good goalkeeper. No doubt about that. We will not kill him; we will encourage him on how to improve,” Akonnor said.

Abalora could start against Ivory Coast on Saturday.
