Ghanaian international Christian Atsu vowed to win a trophy for the senior national team before he announces his retirement from international football.

The 29 year old has been outstanding for the Black Stars despite been sidelined from the national team for two years now with his last appearance happening to be against Cameroon in the 2019 AFCON

In an interview quoted by FootballMadeInGhana, the ex- Chelsea winger has disclosed he is still not ready to return into the national team neither is he considering to retire anytime soon.
He added by saying, he is working so hard to be fully fit for now and want to land a glory before he call it a quit with the Black Stars. He said;
"The coach understands and he told me to let him know when I’m ready. I need to be playing first."
“If you look at the players Ghana has produced since we last won the AFCON (in 1982), it’s very sad,” he says. “We must target the January 2022 tournament. If I am part of it, as I hope, I will give everything. I do not want to retire without winning a trophy for Ghana. If I do, I’ll be a failure,” he concluded.
The diminutive winger was outstanding for the Black Stars in the 2015 AFCON where he was adjudged MVP and the best player of that tournament.
At the moment, Christian has ended his stay with English Premier League side Newcastle United and will announce his next move very soon.
