Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has stated categorically clear that, they are only going in for a win and nothing else in their game against Ethiopia on Friday night.

Ghana will welcome the Walia Ibexes in an epic 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium- a clash they will have to win at all cost to brighten their chances of securing ticket to Qatar next year.

The senior national team have been in serious preparations for few days now as they look poised with so much avidity to grind all three points before they take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Tuesday.

The former Kotoko gaffer will have to do without the presence of key players like Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Tariq Fosu and Benson Annan all due to injuries.

Speaking in the pre-match presser, CK Akonnor has revealed they are setting sights on nothing but a win today despite admitting the African game has evolved and thus he's expecting a very tougher oppositions from Ethiopia. He said;

"Yeah, we want to win. Football is now evolving and you can not just get up and say 5-0, 2-0, I’m sure that’s what you want to hear and I won’t be able to tell you that. What matters most is for us to win this match and that’s all.”

“This is a world cup qualifier and it is six matches and by the sixth match, we want to be on top which means that we have to be focused…We want to be focused and start very very well and I trust my boys that they will deliver because it’s about time and we want to do well." He added

The game is scheduled for 1500GMT on Friday, September 3, 2021.
