The Black Stars of Ghana set to fly out to Johannesburg by the close of Saturday, 4th September 2021 for their second game in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Coach CK Akonnor and his charges last night recorded a slim victory over the Walia Ibexes of Ethiopia in their opening fixture of the qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Chinese-based Mubarak Wakaso's powerful hit from outside the box on the 35th minute, coupled with a blunder from goalkeeper Fasil Gebremichael propelled Ghana to grind all three points in the end.

However, having moved to the summit of Group G, the Black Stars have currently shifted their attention to the next game which is against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Monday and are going to depart for Johannesburg today.

The team will be travelling without the English and German-based nationals because South Africa is placed on the red list of the aforementioned countries since they will have to isolate for 10 days when they return to their respective clubs.

This means Ghana will be without Daniel Amartey, Jordan Ayew, injured Jeffrey Schlupp, Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman, Braydon Manu and Daniel Kofi Kyereh.

The Black Stars will play South Africa at the FNB Stadium on Monday in matchday 2 of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
