The Ghana Football Association have abrogated their contract with the 45-year-old trainer after just four months.

Portuguese coach Patrick Greveraars had been sacked by the football governing body of the West African nation following their abysmal performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Greveraars was appointed by the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions as a deputy coach to Charles Kwablan Akonnor on May 31.

The contract of the former FC Porto trainer was terminated by the Ghana Football Association on Monday after the entire technical team of the Black Stars was dissolved.

The Ghana FA statement reads “The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has taken a decision to terminate the appointment of Black Stars Coach Charles Akonnor and his two Assistants with immediate effect.”

“This follows the receipt of the Technical Report from the Head Coach of the Senior National Team and the report from the Black Stars Management Committee following Ghana’s Group G World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.”

The UEFA A-License holder previously worked with PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Vitesse Arnhem, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Anorthosis Famagusta and Al Shabab Dubai.

He was recommended by  C.K Akonnor in his quest to strengthen the technical team ahead the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana currently occupies third spot with three points on the Group G log of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after the two opening matches.

The Black Stars will take on Zimbabwe in the next round of games in October 2021.
