A petition launched shortly after Bafana Bafan’s 1-0 defeat to Ghana in their final 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier match has had in excess of a whopping 75, 000 signatures.

Senegal referee Maguette N’Diaye was tagged to have awarded Ghana an easy penalty on Sunday night against South Africa.

Bafana Bafana who needed to avoid only a defeat to progress to the playoffs were, however, sunk by a thirty-third minute penalty by Ghana captain Andre Ayew.

The nation of South Africa was thrown into disarray which led to a petition being launched by Thato Majola immediately after the match, demanding an immediate investigation from the world’s football governing body, FIFA.

The target of the petitioners was to rake-in 15,000 signatures, but it has now shot up to a staggering 75,000 petitions, which has excited South African football fanatics - showing confidence the 1-0 defeat will be quashed.

“We call upon FIFA’s ethics committee to investigate the Senegalese referee for possible match manipulation and influencing the result of a football match,“ Majola wrote.

The petitioners made an outrageous demand, calling for a rematch at a neutral venue, and a referee from Northern Africa whom they believe will exhibit some sought of neutrality.
