Milovan Rajevac has given us 'just a perfect squad for the AFCON 2021', says George Afriyie Featured

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie has shown open admiration for the squad Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac presented for the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations next month.

The Serbian tactician released his squad for the upcoming tournament on Tuesday during a press conference at the Ghana Football Association secretariat.

 

Top stars Thomas Teye Partey, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Daniel Amartey and AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan made the cut for the squad which will be trimmed to 28 before the start of the tournament in Cameroon.

 

Ghana Premier League leading top scorer David Abagna Sandan (tied on 8goals), Maxwell Nii Abbey Quaye earned their maiden national team invitations.

 

"I have known, especially David Abagna from Wa All Stars to AshGold and now to RTU and with the inclusion of Maxwell Abbey-Quaye and Fatawu Issahaku, it makes the squad perfect," he stated on Asempa FM.

 

“We don't have enough and for me, Milovan Rajevac has given us a perfect squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

 

“I support this call-up and we all need to come on board and support the team ahead of the Afcon because Milovan has presented us just a perfect squad,” he added.

 

The Black Stars will be making their 23rd appearance in the championship where they have won it four times in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982.

 

The home-based players will leave Ghana for Qatar on Wednesday 22 December 2022 to continue preparations for the next month's tournament.
