TROUBLE loom for Christopher Bonney as Ghana U23 technical team investigate his 'strange' birth certificate

The Black Meteors technical team have begun investigations into the allegedly fogged birth certificate of the stalwart defender, has learnt.

Technical members of the Ghana U23 team have opened an in-depth investigation into the age of Hearts of Oak defender Christopher Bonney.
Bonney's invitation to the Ghana U23 team ahead of their Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria has sparked controversy in the country following a three different date of births which have popped up in the media.
He has been accused of age-cheating by the Ghanaian media after being named in the Ghana U23 list released on Tuesday.
"We have received calls concerning his age but he hasn't been dropped from the team as circulated in the media. He trained with the team today," a close source told
"We have opened an in-depth investigation into Bonney's issue. We will update to the media in the coming days"
According Transfermarkt, his age is 27 with 22nd July 1992 as his date of birth as others claim 22 July 1995 was his date of birth used during days at Asante Kotoko, Unistar Academy and Ebusua Dwarfs.
Per reports in the local media, he has fogged his birth certificates with the current date of birth which is 22nd November 1998.
Ghana was banned from the 2015 CAF U17 Cup of Nations for fielding an unqualified player in a qualifier against Cameroon.
