Ghana captain Andre Ayew dream of reaching the English Championship play-off final shattered after Swansea City defeat to Brentford on Wednesday evening.
Brentford beat Swansea City 3-1 in their final ever game at Griffin Park to reach the Championship play-off final.
Trailing 1-0 after the first leg, the Bees needed only 15 minutes to force their way in front on aggregate.
Ollie Watkins finished off a swift counter-attack for the opener and Emiliano Marcondes nodded in Brentford's second from Said Benrahma's pass.
Bryan Mbeumo's well-struck second-half volley from Rico Henry's left-wing cross confirmed their place at Wembley, although the hosts had to endure a nervy finale after a Pontus Jansson error let in Rhian Brewster to reduce Swansea's aggregate deficit to one.
Brentford will face either Fulham or Cardiff City on 4 August, with a Premier League place on offer for the victors.
Ayew enjoyed the entire duration of the match.
He scored eighteen goals in 47 appearances for Swansea City this season.
