Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has reported to the club’s training ground after his personal training camp in Spain.

The 25-year-old returned on Monday morning after arriving back in the UK from Spain on Saturday afternoon.

Isak had been training at his former club Real Sociedad’s headquarters on his own, after refusing to join Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia, having reported a thigh injury and travelled to San Sebastian to recover with his own staff.

The Magpies have rejected an opening offer from Liverpool for Isak, who has informed the club that he wants to explore a move away this summer.

Newcastle want £150m for the Sweden international, and Liverpool’s offer falls below that figure.

It is believed that Liverpool are not expected to make a second offer to sign Isak from Newcastle.

The 25-year-old has three years to run on his contract and as it stands, he and his camp do not want to commit, with Liverpool interested in making the Sweden international a British record signing.

Eddie Howe confident of Isak stay at Newcastle

Manager Eddie Howe said previously that he remains “confident” Alexander Isak will still be at the club at the start of the season.

“It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him,” Howe said after their defeat by Celtic.

“The last thing he wanted is to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn’t fair to him. But I’m confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window.

“I think it’s difficult for me to give 100% clarity on any player.

“Alex is happy at Newcastle. He loves the players he plays with, the staff, the team and I’ve never had any issue with him.”

“Yes, I’ve had discussions with him but that’s not abnormal. I respect a player’s career and how short it is. Alex has been really good, he’s trained really well and I realise there’ll be noise around him.”

Isak has a contract with Newcastle United until the summer of 2028.
