Asante Kotoko have paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to seek spiritual support ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.

The visit, held in Accra on Tuesday, saw the club’s management, technical team, and players receive prayers and words of encouragement from the respected Islamic cleric. Sheikh Sharubutu urged the team to remain disciplined and united as they aim to progress in the continental competition.

“Approach the game with humility, discipline, and teamwork,” the Chief Imam advised, before leading special prayers for the Porcupine Warriors’ success.

Kotoko are set to host Wydad on Sunday, October 19, at the Accra Sports Stadium, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruled out the Baba Yara Stadium.

Tickets for the encounter range from GH₵50 for the Popular Stand and Centre Line to GH₵200 for VIP seats.

The Porcupine Warriors reached this stage after overcoming Kwara United of Nigeria 5–3 on aggregate. However, Wydad, who are semi-finalists at this year’s FIFA Club World Cup are expected to provide a strong challenge.

Kotoko will hope the Chief Imam’s words inspire them to another famous continental win.
