The Black Stars of Ghana have qualified to their fifth FIFA World Cup after a narrow 1-0 win over Comoros at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in the final game of the qualifiers. 

The homesters’ sloppy start nearly had them punished in the early stages of the game, Faiz Selemani was picked up with a very good pass but headed wide for a goal-kick. 

The Comorians kept on attacking with their distractive play which eventually saw Kwasi Sibo run into M’Changama and attracted a yellow card in the tenth minute. 

In the 33rd minute mark, Antoine Semenyo was put through with a goal in search of the opener but his shot was deflected to a wasted corner kick. Jordan Ayew also weaves in three minutes later but his cross met no connection and rolled over. 

Back from recess, Ghana scored in just a minute into the game through Kudus who tapped in from a close range after a huge scramble in the box.

The Black Stars took total control in the second half and dominated, dictating the play and pattern leaving their opponents to chase shadows. 

The four-time African champions had lots of chances come their despite Comoros’ low-block approach but still couldn’t increase the goals while goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was also virtually on holiday in major part of the game. 

It finished 1-0 for Ghana who have now officially qualified to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing as winners of Group I with 26 points.
