French Ligue 1 side Toulouse are in pole position of securing the services of Ghana midfielder Francis Abu in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Stadium de Toulouse outfit have submitted a bid around the region of €2.5 million to Belgian side Cercle Brugge for the possible acquisition of the Black Stars enforcer this summer.
The French side are believed to have faced stiff competition from several clubs including, Burnley in the English Premier League and Italian sides Torino and Genoa.
Turkish Super Lig clubs Basaksehir FK and Trabzonspor were also credited as suitors for the 24-year-old, however Toulouse are close to securing the signature of the midfielder with the deal in its final stages.
Since joining Cercle Brugge from FC Nordsjaelland in 2022, Abu has made 100 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian club and netted three goals and provided seven assists.
His consistent performances in midfield, combining defensive discipline with creative passing, have made him one of the club’s standout performers. With one year left on his contract, the Belgian side are open to selling the Ghanaian talent this summer.
Before joining Cercle Brugge, Abu Francis began his professional career with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland after graduating from its feeder club, Right to Dream Academy in Ghana. He joined their youth ranks and made his senior debut in the 2019/20 season.
His development in the Danish Superliga laid the foundation for his move to Belgium, where he has since matured into a reliable first-team regular player.
Abu has made six appearances for the senior national team of Ghana since making his debut in 2024.
