Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo after booking his second World Cup spot as a coach now wants committed players for the competition and isn’t any ready to break the current cohesion and unity in the senior national team.

This will be the fifth time the Black Stars will be playing at the Mundial after previous four appearances (2006, 2010, 2014 & 2022).

The four-time African champions in the qualifiers finished as winners of Group I with 26 points; culminated from eight wins, a draw and defeat from ten matches.

Otto Addo’s men climaxed the qualifiers with a slim 1-0 win and a perfect revenge against Comoros in their final game at the Ohene Gyan Stadium last Sunday evening.

Since the qualification was sealed, lots of players who were born in the diaspora but with Ghanaian descent have started getting linked to the national team notably Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah, Dutch-based goalkeeper Jayden Oduro and others.

This topic has really sparked a divided opinion in the media space with some Ghanaian football fans in support while the rest feel it will be unfair to include them in the World Cup squad since they refused to honour the invite when they were first approached

Giving his view on this, the former Borussia Dortmund trainer says he will only need players that are committed and ready to give their all to the country to the FIFA World Cup.

“I think Ghana should always have a certain pride. As a country, we need to check the commitment of each player which is very crucial because we have very good unity and we definitely don’t want to destroy it by bringing players who don’t have commitment”, he told 3Sports

The Black Stars will wait until December 5, to determine their group and opponents for the next World Cup and will be in pot five of the upcoming draw.

The Black Stars will regroup again next month to take on Japan and South Korea in two highly-rated friendly matches to wrap up what was a great unbeaten year in competitive matches with five wins and draw from six games.
