Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have announced the appointment of Daniel Kodie as the club's assistant welfare manager ahead of the 2025–26 season's campaign.
Kodie, who once featured for the Phobians, has been promoted from the club's youth side to take up a role at the first-team technical led by Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
He suffered a serious injury which forced him to prematurely retired from football two years ago, despite undergoing a surgery at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital in South Africa in 2021.
Hearts of Oak reassigned him a role at its youth team, Auroras FC, where he served diligently as an Assistant Welfare Manager. Beyond his welfare duties, Kodie was actively involved in supporting the technical team, often lending his football knowledge and tactical insights to the development of young players.
A statement from the club reads: “Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed the promotion of Daniel Kodie from their youth side, Auroras FC, to the senior team’s technical set-up ahead of the new football season.”
“Kodie will serve as the Assistant Welfare Manager to Henry Martey, marking another important chapter in his journey with the club.”
“A true Phobian, Kodie joined the club initially as a promising footballer, but his career on the pitch was sadly cut short due to injury. The club fully funded his surgery in South Africa.
“Undeterred, his passion for the game and love for the club saw him take on a new role behind the scenes.”
“He was reassigned to Auroras FC, the club’s youth team, where he served diligently as an Assistant Welfare Manager. Beyond his welfare duties, Kodie was actively involved in supporting the technical team, often lending his football knowledge and tactical insights to the development of young players.”
“His promotion to the senior team is a testament to his unwavering commitment, discipline, and deep understanding of the club’s values. As he steps into his new role with the senior side, Daniel Kodie will be expected to bring the same energy and dedication that have characterized his journey so far.”
“Hearts of Oak fans will no doubt welcome this move, as it reflects the club’s commitment to building from within and rewarding loyalty and hard work. Kodie’s presence in the senior team setup promises to strengthen the support system around the players for the coming season.”
The Phobians are undergoing pre-season for the 2025/26 season's campaign and they are scheduled to play Heart of Lions in the 2025 Homowo Cup and the 2025 Democracy Cup against Great Olympics later this month.
Hearts of Oak will begin their 2025–26 Ghana Premier League campaign with a home fixture against newly promoted side Hohoe United in September.
