Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has expressed his delight at the impending return of striker Kwame Opoku, who is set to make his comeback from injury ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The 26-year-old forward has been sidelined since sustaining an injury in Kotoko’s season opener against Berekum Chelsea. However, after weeks of recovery, Opoku has resumed full training and is in contention for selection on November 2.

Speaking to the club’s media, Zito underscored the significance of Opoku’s return, especially given the team’s recent struggles in attack following the departure of Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.

“When you look at our injury situation, it has affected the attackers the most,” Zito said. “That’s why I’m very happy Kwame [Opoku] is back to join those who are available. His return gives us more options and experience up front.”

Kotoko will be hoping Opoku’s comeback provides the attacking boost they need as they look to bounce back in front of their home fans.

Kick-off for the fixture is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
