Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi is expected to make his debut for the Phobians when they take on Heart of Lions in their Week 5 Ghana Premier League fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Agbasi, who joined Hearts on a two-year deal, could be handed the starting role by head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, with first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare likely to be rested following his exploits with the Black Stars, whom he helped qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Asare was in goal when Ghana defeated Comoros 1-0 — thanks to a Mohammed Kudus strike — to top Group I with 25 points from ten matches, securing the country’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by Canada, the USA, and Mexico.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, Agbasi expressed his readiness and determination to deliver if given the opportunity to start.

“I see Kpando Heart of Lions as a very good side; they’ve gone unbeaten so far this campaign. My teammates, the coaches, and the technical team are all preparing well because it’s a very important game for us in Accra,” Agbasi told Hearts of Oak Media.

“Playing at home and in front of our fans gives us motivation. I’ve been training hard, and my coach has been pushing me to improve — so I’m ready when given the chance.”

The 25-year-old shot-stopper previously played for Dreams FC, where he captained the team to a historic CAF Confederation Cup semifinal appearance in the 2023/24 season, bowing out to Egyptian giants Zamalek over two legs.

Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign, having recorded two wins and two draws, and will be looking to extend that run when they host the resilient Lions on Monday afternoon.
