Asante Kotoko may be forced to dip back into the transfer market after a mounting injury list threatened to derail their pre-season plans, communications director Sarfo Duku said.

The Porcupine Warriors are already without winger Peter Amidu and forward Elvis Kyei Baffour, with both players been sidelined for six weeks, just as the club gears up for the GHALCA Top Four and a packed Ghana Premier League season.

"You will say you are done but that will not be the case every day… the next morning injury comes," Duku told Happy FM.

"The players you thought would be fit will now be staying at home for some time. When this happens, and there is a chance, you have to get a replacement."

The setback could alter Kotoko’s recruitment plans despite the season’s start fast approaching.

"For now I will say until there is no chance for signing, anything can happen," Duku added. "We are mindful of the competitions in front of us, If I tell you we are done, I will be lying to you. If you see players getting into the squad, you shouldn’t be surprised – injuries have been a problem for us."

Kotoko open their GPL campaign on September. 12 away at Berekum Chelsea and will need reinforcements quickly if they are to hit the ground running.
