Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been released on bail after appearing in court on Tuesday to face multiple charges of rape and sexual assault.
The 32-year-old Ghana international is accused of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, allegedly committed between 2021 and 2022. The case emerges just days before a reported transfer to Spanish side Villarreal, casting uncertainty over the midfielder’s immediate future.
Partey, who recently parted ways with Arsenal following the expiration of his contract, denies all charges. His legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, said he “strongly contests the allegations” and is cooperating fully with authorities.
Kickgh.com can confirm that Partey was granted bail pending further proceedings. The development clouds what was expected to be a return to La Liga for the former Atlético Madrid player.
