Ghana Football Association (GFA) General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has clarified why Nsoatreman FC was eligible to participate and vote at the Association’s 31st Ordinary Congress despite their demotion.

Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Addo explained that Nsoatreman FC remains a member of the GFA. The club had written to the Association requesting withdrawal from all competitions, particularly the Premier League, after being charged by the Disciplinary Committee.

“Congress is always attended by all the clubs that played in the season,” he said. “This includes teams that were relegated, as it is their final congress before officially becoming Division One clubs.”

According to Addo, all three relegated clubs — Nsoatreman FC, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities — took part in the congress as Premier League representatives. However, from next season, Accra Lions and Legon Cities will attend as Division One League clubs, while Nsoatreman, having been demoted further to the lower leagues, will not participate in the 2025 congress.

He added that the same applies across other competitions, citing examples from the Women’s Premier League and Division One League, where relegated teams such as Faith Ladies and Kotoku Royals also attended their final congress as representatives of their former divisions.
