Asante Kotoko have been handed a huge pre-match lift ahead of their Ghana Premier League week eight battle with Karela United, as Baba Yahaya and Saaka Dauda make their long-awaited return to full training.

In an official club statement on Tuesday, the Porcupine Warriors confirmed the news, revealing that both players are back in contention after overcoming their respective injuries.

“The club's medical team confirmed the duo’s return after both were sidelined with injuries. Baba nursing a groin problem picked up during preseason, and Saaka recovering from an ankle issue. Baba, who is yet to feature this season, is expected to be in contention for his first appearance as the Porcupine Warriors seek a strong response following their CAF Confederation Cup exit,” the statement said.

Both players trained fully at Adako Jachie this week, moving freely and firing on all cylinders, much to the delight of the Porcupine Warriors’ faithful. Their comeback delivers a timely boost to Karim Zito's side as they look to build spark heading into Sunday’s showdown at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Yahaya’s vision and control in midfield could provide the creative spark the team has missed, while Dauda’s pace and goal threat offer a serious attacking weapon heading into Sunday’s clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Their return comes at a crucial time as Kotoko aim to rebuild confidence and push up the table after a stuttering start to the season.
